Who I am

This site and the email list are run by Will (4K Adventures), trading as Wrong Side of the Road.

The best way to reach me is hello@wrongsideoftheroad.co.uk. I read everything that comes in. If you need a postal address from me, ask and I will give you one.

I am the data controller for the information described here, which just means I am the one responsible for it.

What I collect

Your email address and your first name if you give it.

That is it. I do not ask for anything else and I do not want anything else.

My email provider automatically records whether emails were delivered, opened, and whether links were clicked. I use that to work out whether what I am sending is any good, and to stop emailing people who clearly are not reading.

Why I collect it

To send you the guide you asked for, and to email you when something in it changes, which the rules keep doing.

Occasionally I will email about something I have made, which may be something I sell. If you would rather not get those, unsubscribe and you will get nothing further.

What allows me to do this

Your consent. You gave it by entering your email address and clicking the confirmation link.

You can take it back whenever you like. There is an unsubscribe link at the bottom of every email and it works immediately. You do not have to give a reason and I will not email you to ask why.

Who else sees it

My email list runs on Kit (kit.com), which stores and sends the emails on my behalf. They process your data under my instructions and cannot use it for their own purposes.

Kit is based in the United States, so your email address is stored there. They operate under approved transfer arrangements for personal data leaving the UK.

Nobody else gets your data. I do not sell it, rent it, swap it or share it with anyone, and I never will. If that ever changed, I would tell you before it happened, not after.

How long I keep it

For as long as you are on the list.

If you unsubscribe, I keep a record that you unsubscribed. That sounds counterintuitive but it is how I make sure you do not get added again by accident. It is just your email address on a suppression list and nothing else.

If you have never opened anything in two years, I will remove you.

What you can ask me to do

Under UK data protection law you can ask me to:

tell you what I hold about you

correct it if it is wrong

delete it

stop using it

send you a copy of it

Email hello@wrongsideoftheroad.co.uk and I will sort it. There is no charge and I will do it within a month, usually the same week, because it takes about two minutes.
